Group of Twenty
Australia will chair the Group of Twenty (G20) meetings in 2014, bringing together leaders, Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors, Trade Ministers and Employment and Labour Ministers from major developing and advanced economies to address critical economic and financial challenges facing the world.
G20 members account for 85 per cent of global GDP, 75 per cent of global trade, and most of Australia's major trading and investment partners.
The G20 Taskforce in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet is responsible for the oversight of the overall policy and operational arrangements for the G20 in 2014, including the Brisbane Leaders Summit.
On 15 December, Treasury Secretary Dr Martin Parkinson PSM addressed G20 delegates at a dinner hosted at Canberra's National Gallery of Australia on Australia's G20 presidency.
Treasury is responsible for policy development and logistics for the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meetings (also known as the G20 finance track) during Australia's G20 host year of 2014. The host year runs from 1 December 2013 to 30 November 2014.
