Tax Forum
The Tax Forum brought together a mix of people including members of the community, businesses, unions, governments, academics and other tax experts. Their aim was to discuss priorities and directions for further tax reform as it has been the Government’s aim to build a stronger, fairer and simpler tax system. Held on Tuesday 4 October and Wednesday 5 October 2011 at Parliament House in Canberra the forum facilitated discussion on how this could best be done. With the input of around 180 representatives the Tax Forum achieved several outcomes, the introduction of the Business Tax Working Group, a review into state taxes and a further increase to the income tax-free threshold when it is affordable.
