The exposure draft of the Census and Statistics Regulation 2016 remakes the Statistics Regulations 1983, which are due to sunset on 1 October 2016, and consolidates their content with the Census and Statistics (Census) Regulation 2015. The consolidation of these regulations, which are both made under the Census and Statistics Act 1905 ensures that they are easier to navigate. The exposure draft proposes no substantive changes to the Statistics Regulations 1983. Minor changes have been made to reflect current drafting practices and to improve readability.
