Abstract:

The Governments of Australia and Japan have signed a Convention for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income. The new tax treaty replaces the existing treaty which was signed in 1969.

The new treaty was signed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Hon Stephen Smith MP and the Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs, Masahiko Koumura.
