Key Documents

On 28 February 2015, the Prime Ministers of Australia and New Zealand concluded an information sharing arrangement as part of a student debt recovery scheme for New Zealand.

The draft amendment would authorise the Commissioner of Taxation’s disclosure of taxpayer information to the Commissioner of Inland Revenue, New Zealand. This would assist New Zealand in making contact with people living in Australia who have New Zealand student loan repayment obligations and to potentially recover outstanding student loan amounts.

The information sharing arrangement is on a cost recovery basis.
